I try to creep up on myself, unsuspecting. I'll trick myself into going into the sewing room for just five minutes, just do one thing... which leads to another and another.

Or I'll sort my pile of scraps, cut squares or strips for the bins and the next thing I know, I'm back on track with the current project at hand. The same works with housework. =]

Loving the hexagon squares!

I usually kick start myself by taking a big break from whatever is sucking the creativity out of me (too much sewing, too much knitting, etc). Going for a walk, watching a movie, reading a book, spending time with friends always seems to give me a new sense of creativity and new ideas to use.

My creations are hard to ignore because I have to do one a month without fail, no matter how I feel. I have found the best way to get through a low point though, is to go away, as far away as possible, and forget about the need to do anything at all. Then re-enter from stage left with a different perspective and a new lease of life and things start to happen naturally again. It was a very tough time before I knew about the need to displace myself from my work for a short stimulating time, but now I have learnt to, things flow fine.

I wallow around for a bit, get utterly sick of myself and then I give myself a Talking To and lo and behold, I'm back! I wish there was some way of avoiding the cycle but I haven't hit on it yet.

Love the organised and colour-coded hexagaons. Candy for the Virgoan eye, I tell you :-)

inspired by your portable hexagon project, i've just packed a little portable craft box to take on my travels this week. but will admit i can't really say i'm kick-starting myself at the moment. :-)

definitely taking my art journal and i will work in it for a change (that could use a kick-start). i think a new set of pens will be what it takes. :-)

How do I kick-start myself?
Listen too music
Making something really easy
Draw
Clean the house, than at least something gets done, LOL
Thinking about which subject I want to blog about and than making a list of things I want to make
Watching a movie
Take a walk on the beach

And sometimes all of this still doesn't work but most of the time it does.
